Audio Review: After Felix by Lily Morton, narrated by Joel Leslie (Close Proximity #3)

Note: The audiobook was provided by the author via Gay Romance Reviews Tours & Promo. After Felix , the third and final book in Lily Morton's Close Proximity series, was one of my favorite reads in 2020, so it goes without saying that I've been eagerly awaiting the release of the audiobook edition. Narrated by the uber talented Joel Leslie, who also narrated the first two audiobooks in the series, Best Man and Charlie Sunshine , After Felix is a second chance romance with a bit of an age gap angle to it, what with the main characters, Felix Jackson, who is in his twenties, and Max Travers, who is thirty-seven, when they first meet. Told in two parts--before and after they go their separate ways--Felix and Max were only supposed to hook-up, but it results in repeats--and lots of them. What happens when inconvenient feelings get in the way and mess up what was a good, albeit temporary, thing between Felix and Max? Joel Leslie narrating Lily Morton's stories is my c...

Meet Me at Midnight by Melissa Toppen Release Date: April 29, 2022 About Meet Me at Midnight Meet me at midnight —whispered words from drunken lips. Lips that I had spent years wanting to kiss. Lips that I had dreamt about night after night, waking to wonder what if. What if he noticed me? What if he wanted me? What if… But I quickly learned some things are better left to wonder. Especially where Levi Mills is concerned. He didn’t just steal my innocence that night. He broke every part of me. Dismantled me from the inside out until there was nothing left of the girl I used to be. Years passed. Moments faded into the background. Until eventually he became nothing more than a distant memory—a dream that almost didn’t seem real. But then suddenly he’s there, standing in front of me again like he never left. And in that one heartbeat, in that one breath, I relive it all over again. Every touch. Every word. Like frozen snippets of time suspended in front of my eyes. And t...

Review: Meet Me at Midnight by Melissa Toppen

Image
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions. Meet Me at Midnight is a friends-to-lovers, second-chance romance, and it's the newest standalone from Melissa Toppen. Olive Kenney was okay having Levi Mills as "just" her friend, but as she watched him go from one girl to another, she couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if he finally saw her as more than a friend. All it took was four words from him--"Meet me at midnight"--and like a moth to a flame, she couldn't resist. But then he went and broke not only her heart but her trust as well. Six years after that night, Levi is back in their hometown, and Olive isn't welcoming him with open arms. That night after their high school graduation finally opened her eyes to the boy everyone cautioned her about. He may not have returned specifically for her, but Levi knows that he needs Olive--her friendship, her trust, her support, and maybe, he can hav...

Review: The Spring We Ignited by Victoria Denault (Ocean Pines #3)

Image
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author. Victoria Denault takes readers back to the small town of Ocean Pines with the release of the third book in the series that shares the same name. The Spring We Ignited is the story of love, friendship, and family, and Nova Escalara and Finn Hawkins are the main characters. Finn is the twin brother of Logan whose story was told in previous book, The Winter We Collided , and is the older brother of Terra whose book, The Fall We Fell , kicked off the Ocean Pines series. The oldest sibling, Declan, gets his own book in the fourth and final release, The Summer We Surrendered , but I'm getting ahead of myself here. This newest book is one that some may label "forbidden", but I think of it as complicated romance, but one that has all characters involved deserving of their happily-ever-afters. Five years ago, Nova Escalara returned to the place where she worked in hopes of coming across Finn Hawkins and asking for hi...

Forever, Con Amor (For Him #4) by A.M. Johnson Release Date: April 28, 2022 About Forever, Con Amor Chance, I never in a million years thought I would want a guy who smells like a tree and probably hugs them on the daily, but alas, you've somehow snuck your sexy, khaki-covered ass into my life. It doesn't help that we're stuck living in this apartment together for God knows how long, but I can't stop thinking about that kiss. I know I said it was one and done, and maybe that's the smart thing to do since I'm not convinced of your emotional availability. Maybe I'm a masochist. Or, maybe I might kind of like you. I said what I said. No regrets, Marcos *  *  * Marcos, Your ability to simultaneously compliment and insult me is probably one of my favorite things about you. I think it's part of your charm. Does that make me a masochist as well? I definitely like to torture myself. The night I kissed you, I knew it had the potential to push yo...

Ten Trends to Seduce Your Bestfriend by Penny Reid Release Date: April 12, 2022 About Ten Trends to Seduce Your Bestfriend Winnifred Gobaldi and Byron Visser are not best friends. Yes, they’ve known each other for years, but they’re not even friendly. Winnie considers them more like casual, distant acquaintances who find each other barely tolerable, especially when he's being condescending (which is all the time). The truth is, they have nothing in common. She’s a public school science teacher with stars in her eyes, and he’s a pretentious, joyless double PhD turned world-famous bestselling fiction author. She loves sharing her passion for promulgating women in STEM careers and building community via social media, and he eschews all socialization, virtual or otherwise. She’s looking for a side hustle to help pay down a mountain of student debt, and his financial portfolio is the stuff of fiduciary wet dreams. So why are they faking a #bestfriend relationship for millions ...
