Review: My Forever Girl by Laura Pavlov (Blue Sky Bay #1)
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.
If you're a longtime reader of Laura Pavlov's, then it would be nearly impossible for you not to know who Beefcake is. Readers were introduced to Cutler Heart in the Magnolia Falls series, not just as Nash Heart's young son, but as the series' other male main characters' honorary nephew. And yes, that nickname he gave himself stuck. We saw his dad find love--and Cutler gain a mother who considered him like she was her very own--in Beating Heart. Now, Cutler himself is all grown up--and then some--and life has been rather good. He's got supportive parents and extended family, a close knit group of friends, and a flourishing business. He's also got his best friend, Gracie Reynolds. Yes, that Gracie--daughter of Presley and Cage from After the Storm in the Cottonwood Cove series. She's always been Cutler's girl, but all they've ever been is friends. The question is: could they be more?
Cutler and Gracie met when they were five, and their bond has always been unbreakable. Now 28, the two have become roommates after Gracie's return from Paris. They're also temporarily working together in ROD Construction, he the architect to her interior designer. I "saw" these two as kids, and "seeing" them as adults felt like such a full circle moment. I understood why there was some hesitation to go all in, but I was also pleasantly surprised that it went beyond the fear of risking their friendship. There were clearly things from their past, particularly in Cutler's case, that needed to be resolved, and the support from family and friends was expected yet still inspiring. My Forever Girl was a fantastic start to this new series while also carrying on the notable legacy of Laura Pavlov's small town romances. This receives five stars, and I can't wait for book two!
