Review: One Quick Obsession by Carrie Ann Ryan (The Cage Family #4)
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.
One Quick Obsession is the fourth book in the Cage Family series, and it's an enemies-to-lovers romance featuring Hudson Cage and Scarlett Blair. He's former military and an artist, the second oldest among all the siblings, and he's got a twin brother named Flynn. She's the manager at Cage Resort, has a twin sister named Luna and a mother who is agoraphobic, and her estranged father was abusive. These two do not get along. At all. The fact that they also happen to be neighbors now means they're around each other more than they already were whenever Hudson happened to be at the resort or Scarlett hung out with his siblings. But all that tension between is about to come to a head. Will it consume them or will someone wreak havoc instead?
Grumpiness may seem to be in the genes of the Cage siblings--well, maybe not all of them--but who doesn't love a grump? The thing is, Scarlett isn't exactly the sunshine to Hudson's grumpiness, which certainly ramped up everything between them. These two were circling around each other, poking and prodding, pushing buttons, and bickering, but there were also those moments where you could see the weight of everything Scarlett and Hudson were carrying respectively. As their feelings grew and trust was established, it was so gratifying to see them be such pillars of support for each other. The ending did have me anxious to see what awaited the next Cage sibling, but still, One Quick Obsession deservedly earns itself four stars!
