Review: Accidental Runaway Groom by Carrie Ann Ryan (Clover Lake #2)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

Back to Wyoming we go, to a small town called Clover Lake, for the second book in Carrie Ann Ryan's series by the same name. Accidental Runaway Groom is the story of Jamie Montgomery and Sharp McBride. She's the daughter of Sierra Elder and Austin Montgomery, whose own happily-ever-after plays out in Delicate Ink, the first book in Ryan's Montgomery Ink series--yup, the OG! She's also the cousin of Livvy, the female main character of the Clover Lake series starter, Always a Fake Bridesmaid; on the other hand, Sharp is the younger brother of Ewan, Livvy's now-husband. Jamie and Sharp meet when she picks him up from the side of the road--on the day of his wedding. The same wedding that he's extremely late for. Six months later, Jamie's back in Clover Lake, and the former not-quite-runaway groom is very much single. The two forge a kinship, one that refuses to be kept in the friend zone. However, will Jamie be the next person who breaks Sharp's heart, especially when she inevitably leaves him and returns to Colorado?

Talk about a noteworthy meet-cute! Jamie and Sharp had that sort of first meeting that was bound to be memorable, and there was zero chance that they would forget each other. I loved that these two had the kind of connection that was both platonic AND romantic. Who says you can't be friends with someone you're attracted to? With a guaranteed happily-ever-after, there was a second or two wherein I wondered who would move where, but the title of the series was a reminder of how things would end up. Just like the book before it, this was a quick read, which I think is a good idea because with the abundance of Montgomerys and Carrie Ann Ryan being just one person, this still allows for this generation to get their happy endings. With just one more book to go, I'm hoping for and expecting the Clover Lake series to end on a high because it's been getting better and better! Accidental Runaway Groom receives 4.5 stars.
