Review: The Accidental Dating Experiment by Lauren Blakely (How to Date #4)

First released as an Audible Original, which was narrated by the uber talented twosome of Jacob Morgan and Andi Arndt, The Accidental Dating Experiment is now available for readers. (Side note: I'm not sure if any changes were made from audio to eBook and paperback.) This is the fourth addition to Lauren Blakely's How to Date series, and it's a second-chance, friends-to-lovers, best friend's sibling romance featuring Monroe Blackstone, a therapist and part of Heartbreakers and Matchmakers, the popular podcast he co-hosts with Juliet Dumont, a party planner who specializes in celebrating break-ups. The two had a summer fling eight years prior, but life got in the way. Now, they've been gifted a house by a wealthy and devoted listener of their podcast, and spending time there may not be what The Love Doctor ordered but may be exactly what these two need.

Maybe it was purely accidental, maybe it was destined, but Juliet and Monroe getting together was something that was a long time coming. Who would have thought that all it would be take was a shockingly expensive gift from a fan and long looks in the mirror (up yonder on the ceiling) for them to get out of their own way, although it admittedly took Monroe a wee bit longer to come to his senses than it did Juliet. This didn't really surprise me considering the issues he had yet to deal with before going after that happily-ever-after he wanted with her. I will say, though, that the sex overshadowed the romance a wee bit, and while the former was not gratuitous to say the least, I was hoping for more of a balance with the latter. Still, The Accidental Dating Experiment was as entertaining as I expected it to be and gets four stars, plus the hint of who's up next has me quite excited!
