Review: My Whiskey Redemption by Melissa Foster (The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch #5)

"You make everything better," he said, rough with emotion.
Her heart tripped up. "Everything?"
"Everything."

And that, fellow romance readers, is how you end a series. Le sigh. Melissa Foster's novels are all standalones that have the proverbial invisible strings, meaning that each book can be read on its own and enjoyed solely on its merits while also having connections with other books. The same goes for her series. As someone who has read all the books in some series, while not having had the opportunity to do so for others, it's safe to say that one doesn't necessarily need to read anything prior to a new book (but hey, I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone from checking out Foster's back list!).

Blaire Whiskey, who prefers her nickname of Birdie, finally gets her chance at her own happily-ever-after in My Whiskey Redemption, the fifth and final book in Melissa Foster's The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch series. The twenty-nine-year-old chocolatier may be the youngest among her siblings, but she's a force to be reckoned with. Just ask the Viking-like guy she crashes into while skiing. The connection between the man she's nicknamed "Ragnar" is one-of-a-kind, but then he ups and disappears after their night together. She finds him in the one place she never expected--her family's ranch--and learns he's none other than Crew Hendricks, the man who very nearly killed one of her brothers and the love of her brother's life.

It's near impossible to not become invested when a series focuses on members of one family, especially when an author like Melissa Foster creates characters who have such depth to them but are also capable of growth. Crew affectionally called Birdie "Trouble", and she was, indeed, the good kind of trouble, not just for Crew, but for her family and friends as well. She loved without apology, and her coming into Crew's life gave him something to fight for. The conflict involving Dare was handled better than I could have hoped for. I tell you, these Whiskeys may be fictional, but they're undoubtedly #FamilyGoals. My Whiskey Redemption receives five-plus stars.
