Review: Over the Moon by Laura Pavlov (Rosewood River #3)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

Over the Moon is the third novel in bestselling author Laura Pavlov's Rosewood River series, and if you've read the second book, My Silver Lining, then you must have seen the hint as to who this new release is about. Clark Chadwick is the youngest among the Chadwick siblings. He's the star center for the San Francisco Lions, and scoring the goal that led to the team winning the Stanley Cup makes him an even bigger deal. That doesn't mean he's invincible, however, and an MCL injuring during that championship game has led him back to Rosewood River to recover in the comfort of home and family during the off-season. The team sends the new physical therapist to give him dedicated program and attention he needs. It's clear, however, that Eloise Gable isn't all that thrilled to be assigned to handle the PT of one hockey diva. The twenty-seven-year-old will do what she has to, what with the team's athletic trainer, aka her immediate superior, making it clear he isn't impressed with her qualifications, and the fact that Eloise happens to be the head coach's daughter. Three months together may have felt like forever in the beginning, but once Clark and Eloise start to fall, that may not be enough for a couple who wants forever.

Clark may have been the baby of the family, but the guy was definitely not a man-child. Whatever it was he set his mind to, he was all in. He loved his parents and siblings, and he gave the sport he loved every bit of himself. So, it wasn't really all that much of a surprise that when Eloise--his Weeze--came into his life, he didn't hesitate to make her feel just how important she was to him. She may have had certain preconceived notions about him, but Clark showed her just how wrong those were. I did like how Eloise reminded me of Mentos candy--a hard(ish) shell on the outside, but soft on the inside. I understood why she was so focused on proving the naysayers wrong. Funnily enough, though, you would have thought that someone who did not appreciate having people make assumptions about themselves would hesitate to do the same to someone else. Once Eloise finally allowed herself to let loose and simply be, however, it was clear that she was a woman who simply wanted to be seen on her own merit. Over the Moon was reverse grumpy/sunshine goodness, and I can't wait for more from the Rosewood River series. 4.5 stars.
