Review: Atlas and the Traitor by Layla Reyne (Soul to Find #3)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

I can't believe we've come to the end of the Soul to Find series, and if anyone was worried about Layla Reyne venturing into M/M urban fantasy romance, then these three novels and one novella should have allayed any of those fears. Atlas and the Traitor closes out the series on such a high, with an enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/grumpier romance and a reckoning that's more than a lifetime in the making. Atlas is a warlock who was supposed to live up to his name, but creating balance between Chaos and Nature was never meant to be an easy feat. Neither is trying to keep his distance from a coyote shifter who hasn't made his disdain for Atlas a secret. But it seems that they're fated to keep running into each other; maybe it's for them to finally end each other's misery, or maybe, just maybe, this warlock and his lone wolf were always meant for far more than they'd realized. Can they trust each other long enough to actually fulfill their destiny or will powerful forces decide they're ample sacrifices for a dark future ahead?

Atlas's and Robin's journeys were already complicated to begin with, especially given the fact that they had experienced such immense losses in their lives, but learning to trust each other and accepting that maybe they'd been somewhat wrong about how things were meant to play out. With this being part of a series, I highly recommend that the books be read in order. Yes, there are different couples throughout, but there is a story arc that plays out from the first book onwards, and I feel like in order to fully appreciate everything that goes on, readers should begin with Icarus and the Devil, then Jason and the Storm, which is a quick read compared to the others, followed by Paris and the Reaper, and lastly, Atlas and the Traitor. It's been fun seeing Layla Reyne not just dipping her proverbial toe in a new genre, but diving in with gusto and treating her readers to a truly exciting and intriguing reading experience. As far as I know, this is the end to this series, and if so, what a way to go. The warlock and coyote get five stars.
