Review: Jaded: Zane and Honor by Tess Thompson (Cliffside Bay #3)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via L. Woods PR.

Tess Thompson's small-town romance series, Cliffside Bay, is back with book number three, the friends-to-lovers tale entitled Jaded: Zane and Honor. Zane Shaw and Honor Sullivan are in love with one another, and while those nearest and dearest to them know this for a fact, it appears that the two are not as accepting. It's almost as if the idea that the person they've been pining for pines for them in return is such an impossibility that they'd prefer to believe the opposite. Zane has always tried to be the sort of man who never backed down from whatever challenges life threw his way, but then Honor is more than a challenge. He knows that she's "the one"--the life-changer that he desperately wants to claim for himself. But Zane's gun-shy, knowing all too well what it's like to be the one left behind. He wants to let go of all his hang-ups in order to be a man that deserves to have Honor by his side. However, what he doesn't realize is that Honor sees herself as broken. She has her share of secrets, and as much as she wishes she could have a future with Zane, she may be forced to either run or confront her dark past.

Gah! This series keeps chipping away at my poor, battered heart with every new release, and then by the time everything's been said and done, it pieces the very same heart back together again. Maybe it isn't right to play favorite, but hell, who am I kidding? I tend to have favorites, and Zane and Honor's story is my favorite Cliffside Bay book at the moment. This had angst and a heaviness to it that I loved, but there were also those lighthearted moments as well as the ones that made my press my tablet to my chest because of all the feels. There's a hint of suspense to this particular book, and I liked that it wasn't overly done but nor was it something that you'd think was only thrown in for kicks. Going into this series, I already knew what kind of author Tess Thompson was, but somehow, I'm still discovering that she's better than I had come to believe. She's written this beautiful love story, but it isn't just about love between two people but also the love among the Dogs and each woman that was becoming a part of their group. I loved reading Jaded: Zane and Honor and cannot wait for more! It gets five stars. ♥
