Review: Dirty Little Rendezvous by Emma Hart (Burke Brothers #5)
Note: This ARC was provided by InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review.
When I finished the four books in the Burke Brothers series, one book for each of the four brothers, I couldn't help but hope that Emma Hart would gift Leila Burke--as well as the rest of us--her own happily-ever-after. After all, the only female sibling and the youngest of the brood was someone you couldn't help but like throughout the series, as she was rooting for each of her brothers to find happiness and was supportive and did her own nudging --cough pushing cough--whenever the four boys or any of the women they were pursuing needed it. She's sassy and sweet and she's been paired perfect with Jase Masters, who is every bit the perfect gentleman with just enough alpha and a British accent to make him too irresistible.
Being on tour with her brothers means Leila's going to meet everyone else who's part of the extended gig, but when she locks eyes with Dirty B's supporting act, memories of them locking lips and so much more come to the forefront. After all, Jase Masters isn't the kind of guy you can forget, even after eighteen months. And Jase remembers every moment he spent with Leila, but it seems that Leila would rather pretend she has no clue who he is rather than have a repeat. He's determined for them to make up for the year and a half they've been apart and all he needs to do is to get her to look his way. She's determined to finish her brothers' tour ignoring him and her pull to him. Can one dirty little rendezvous lead to forever?
I know the series is called Burke Brothers and I'm not sure if Emma Hart always intended to write a book about Leila or if it was something she decided to do after the success of the first four books or because of the clamor for it, but not only am I glad she did, but I have to say that this is my favorite one, and maybe it's because the Burke sister was such a fantastic female main character. She was the unofficial Dirty B member and gave her brothers a run for their money, foul-mouthed, sarcastic young woman that she was. But she also wanted a happily-ever-after straight out of the pages of the books she read and I don't think she really ever expected that someone like Jase would be the one to give it to her but he proved her wrong.
Gah! Jase was like the lethal combination of naughty and nice and I'm a sucker for an accent. Wait, let me qualify that. I'm a sucker for certain kinds of accents, and the British accent is at the very top of that list. If the accent happens to accompany dirty words uttered by a hot guy, well then, sign me up. I loved Jase and he was the ideal partner for someone like Leila. They got each other and worked so well together and after everyone else got their happy endings, this girl deserved her own. I would have given this book a five-plus-star rating but I had to hold back because the last chapter faltered a bit. Of course, that swoon-worthy epilogue was the right note to end both the book and the series on. Dirty Little Rendezvous gets 4.5 stars. ♥
