Review: The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend's Sister by Meghan Quinn (Millionaire Romances #1)

Is there really a better way to kick off my brand-new reading year than with a romantic comedy read from one of my favorite go-to authors? The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend's Sister is penned by none other than bestselling author Meghan Quinn, and I suspect that it's the first in a new (and still unnamed) trilogy of standalones, which looks to be Quinn's norm, not that you'll hear me complaining since I can't get enough of her writing. Here, she takes on a well-loved trope that she's written about in the past—that of falling in love with the sibling of a best friend. Quinn's added her own brand of humor and come out with a winner of a read, one that brought a smile to my face and a grumble as to why my brother's friends weren't like the male main character when I was younger. But I happily lived vicariously through the female main character who just happened to be as much of a surprise!

When Bram Scott finally loses a bet to his two closest friends, it’s a shock to everyone. What they don’t know is that Bram’s been planning to throw the game from the moment what the loser would have to do was finalized. What neither Rath Westin nor Roark McCool realized was that Bram was finally ready to make his move on the one woman he’s wanted for a decade—Julia Westin. Her dating service was her brainchild, and losing the bet ensured that Bram would have some quality alone time with her. Sure, maybe twenty-eight-year-old Julia was wary that her older brother’s best friend has decided thirty-three was a good age to finally find “the one”. However, her system has an amazing success rate and if there’s anyone that can find Bram his perfect match, it would be Julia. What she doesn’t know is that Bram’s already met the one for him—HER. Will he be able to convince her to listen to her heart and not her renowned test results or will they fail because for Julia, will being tested outweigh being tried?

Oh, Bram, Bram, Bram… Seriously, the guy is the first one to claim the title of favorite book boyfriend for 2019. He won my heart from the get-go. He acknowledges the kind of man he may have once been, but I'll take being cocky over being a douchebag any day. He seriously treated Julia like she was something who was more than worth the chase—he pursued her like the woman who had already laid claim over his heart and not like she was some sort of prey or prize at the end of the hunt. And here's the thing, folks: this wasn't about instant gratification for either one of them. Remember, Bram's had a thing for his best friend's sister for ten years, and the guy knows a thing or two about waiting and needing to be patient until the right time comes along. He gave me a better appreciation for playing the long game, for being patient (something I am so totally not). I absolutely adored this rom-com and it further cemented what I already know to be true: that Meghan Quinn is a favorite go-to author of mine for a reason, and I see it every time I read her books. The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend's Sister easily gets five stars. ♥
