Review: Wicked Choice by Sawyer Bennett (Wicked Horse: Vegas #4)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Oooh! Sawyer Bennett has taken the latest book in her Wicked Horse: Vegas series and added an element of suspense that made for an even more exciting read! Wicked Choice is the fourth and newest release from the author and while it does take us back to the exclusive Wicked Horse club, it also serves as the jump-off point for a spin-off Bennett has in the works about the Jameson Group, the security firm formerly owned by Jerico Jameson, whose story was told in Wicked Favor. In Wicked Choice, we not only meet the couple that the book is about, twenty-six-year-old Bodie Wright and thirty-five-year-old Rachel Hart, but we're also introduced to the rest of the members of the Jameson Group as well as have a cameo from Jerico. The Wicked Horse and the Jameson Group are a combined force to be reckoned with, and this novel is the sort of in-between that'll satisfy fans of the series.

Rachel Hart and Bodie Wright have known one another for a few years, the former being the more senior member in the Jameson group, the covert security firm they both work for. They've been nothing more than teammates and acquaintances, but one night after a mission that ended up with one of their teammates shot, Hart and Wright share a far more intimate encounter than either one ever anticipated. Six weeks later, she finds out she's pregnant, and while she's not thrilled by it, he wants to step up, even if it means being a single parent to their child. She knows that carrying a child would affect her job--a job that she lives for--but she also realizes she can't deny him his desire to become a father. In the next few months, they go from teammates to friends to sexual partners, and if she opens herself up to the possibility, she knows they could go from Hart and Wright to Rachel and Bodie, which is as scary as the prospect of having a baby. She could have everything with Bodie, but the choice is hers to make.

Are we allowed to play favorites? If we are, then Rachel and Bodie's story is definitely my favorite one in the series so far! This had a lot of the good kind of tension that makes me want to keep flipping pages in order to see how everything will turn out for these two. Here, the Wicked Horse served as a go-between for Rachel and Bodie, for them to indulge in their mutual lust for one another, but it was also what allowed her to keep him at arm's length. Away from the club, the layers are slowly peeled back, and we get to know these two while they learn more about one another. Undoubtedly, the sex between them is smoldering, but I loved the more romantic aspects as well, and the more suspenseful parts had me excitedly anticipating what may await us when the author releases her initial foray into her Jameson Group spin-off. For now though, I relish the five-starred read that was Wicked Choice. ♥
