Review: Panty Whisperer: The Complete Series by Sloane Howell (Panty Whisperer #1-#3)

Note: This ARC was provided by Ardent PRose in exchange for an honest review.

That majority of men want sex just to get off. They blow their load, roll over, and asleep. That's not my style. I want you to remember my face. I want you to remember every inch of me.
And you will.

This book! Panty Whisperer is smutty and snarky and a hoot to read but it's also surprisingly got a couple of heartrending moments and everything is brought to life by basically four characters, the two main ones being Joel and Quinn, with Tommy and Megan, their best friends, respectively, who tell it like it is but have no problem shipping the two. If I were forced to slap a trope label on this, it would probably be "enemies to lovers" but that doesn't feel sufficient enough for this book, which is basically a compilation of the continuing short stories or serial that author Sloane Howell has written about the misadventures of the manwhore, erm, woman-pleasing wonder that is Herbert Joel Hannover. So yeah, let's just chuck out the idea of dumping this book with a whole bunch of others because this was a standout and was the highlight of my Monday reading. I laughed, snorted, giggled, and felt a squeeze in my heart when things got heavy for Joel and Quinn. No wait, I think I shall, indeed, stick this fab book with one label: must-read.

Joel likes having sex and when he's locked on to one particular woman, the games begin. He's the conqueror subtly stalking his every prey and he has no qualms doing it...until he's forced to deal with the consequences of his very bad behavior and the one to deal out his punishment is his latest conquest's best friend, a woman named Quinn, and she isn't the kind of girl who bats her eyelashes or simpers and pouts incessantly to get a reaction from the men around her. She's independent and goes after what she wants, and what she wants is Joel, but not in the way you'd think. Nope, she wants to make him pay for what he did to one of her best friends and pay he does. While Joel does get over what Quinn did to him, it's Quinn herself that he can't get out of his head. She's unlike any other woman he's been with before. She puts him in his place and isn't afraid to take control and dominate him with her presence and confidence. This is new territory for Joel; For the first time ever, the Panty Whisperer isn't after a quick fuck. He wants more.

The first few sections of the book may make you think that it's nothing more than Joel going through each of the women he's been with, but there's one particular event that turns things around and that's when everything goes up a notch, raising the bar as the story continues and both Joel and Quinn take turns letting us know what's happening. Now, as much as I loved Joel and Quinn, I must admit that Tommy had my heart. He's the perfect best friend--unafraid to knock Joel down a peg or two when it's called for but is the kind of steadfast support Joel needs. Megan was also a nice addition to the story and the fact that these four are Star Wars fans made me a happy camper. There are moments of immaturity, but I'm certainly not one to judge since immaturity is something I can so relate to, so I definitely liked that element thrown in because it made them easier to relate to. Panty Whisperer isn't an existential read. What it is is a highly entertaining and satisfying raunchy and bawdy romp that I'm giving five-plus stars to. ♥
