Review: Dawn of Forever by Jewel E. Ann (Jack & Jill #3)

Note: This ARC was provided by TRSoR Promotions in exchange for an honest review.

Jillian clenched her teeth, blinking back her tears. In so many ways the greatest love story of her life was not with Luke or AJ … it was with Jackson. He was the constant in her life. His love defined unconditional. Someday she would tell him … someday.

For months, I've been anxiously awaiting the release of the third and final book in the Jack & Jill trilogy from one of my favorite go-to authors, Jewel E. Ann, and now that I've finished reading Dawn of Forever, I find myself in a quandary. After everything that happened in End of Day and Middle of Knight, this was the ending that I was waiting for--I would finally get that resolution to the story of Jessica Day/Jillian Knight and Jude Day/Jackson Knight. But I'm sad that everything has come to an end--albeit a stupendously fabulous one--because this was a series of books that may have had that bite of humor that the author is known for but was so refreshingly different thanks to the suspense thriller aspect that she included. But end it did, and while fans of the series have no choice but the accept that fact, I couldn't have chosen a better ending for the wonder twins that are Jillian and Jackson/Jessica and Jude than the one their creator gave us. A word of warning though: make sure you read all three books in the series in order.

I can't give any actual details story-wise because that'll just end up spoiling the whole story arc for those who have yet to read the series. Seriously? There are still some out there who have either not discovered my favorite fictional twins ever or are biding their time. Chop, chop, people! Get a-reading! Anyway, we get Sgt. Aric James Monaghan AND Dr. Luke Jones, and my heart was palpitating like crazy for a good portion of the book, not knowing how everything was going to end for Jillian/Jessica. As far as her twin was concerned, Jackson/Jude had his own fair share of issues (and boy, do these siblings have issues galore!) that he needed to deal with if he had any hope of being with Ryn Middleton. But the question with regards to Jackson/Jude has always been how long he would be able to hold off on letting the real him come through and if Ryn would be able to accept him, hands bloodied by death or not. The twins have enemies, but at the end of the day, their greatest foe was always the one staring back at them in the mirror.

Now, if you've read my reviews for the first two books in the trilogy, you'll know that I've been a very loyal member of Team Luke, but AJ more than made me a believer by the time everything was said and done. He was exactly what Jillian needed after Jessica had to die and leave Luke behind. After reading all three books, though, and reflecting on what happened in the trilogy, the one character that I will miss the most is Jackson Knight/Jude Day. The love he had for his sister knew no bounds, and while he may have had this lackadaisical air about him, but we get to know the son, the brother, and the man who has lost so much but deals with it all on his own and in his own way. As expected, there are twists in the story, one that threw me for a loop and had me freaking out if the series was going to end in a way that crossed my mind but I never really considered a possibility. But then Jewel E. Ann has never failed to surpass whatever expectations I have, and surpass she did with Dawn of Forever and this series as a whole. Five-plus stars. ♥
