Review: Some Sort of Crazy by Melanie Harlow (Happy Crazy Love #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by The Literary Gossip in exchange for an honest review.

"I'm lying here thinking, a week ago my life seemed so complete, everything in order. My relationship. My business. My house. I had everything I wanted."

"And now?"

"Now I feel like I've been missing something. Like maybe I was wrong about what I wanted. I feel...lost." She looked at me with her huge, round blue eyes, making my whole body heat up.

"You're not lost." Rolling onto my side, I met her forehead with mine. "You're right here with me."

Natalie Nixon has everything that she wants in her life, so when a psychic claims that a stranger will bring total chaos to her life, her doubt in the proficiency of said psychic is heightened. But then Miles Haas comes back into her life, and while he may not be a stranger, he's certainly not one to promote the straight and narrow. Their friendship began when he came to spend the summer in the area, and has lasted through his not-so-secret dislike of Natalie's boyfriend and his ability to be with countless women and write about sexcapades online. Miles's return seems to come just when she needs a shoulder to lean on, but soon, it's not just his shoulder that Natalie finds herself wanting. They've been each other's "what if" for more than a decade, and crossing that line could definitely end up with them in a whole new crazy zone.

Some Sort of Crazy is the second story in bestselling author Melanie Harlow's romantic comedy series, Happy Crazy Love, and if the first one, Some Sort of Happy, set astronomically high standards, this follow-up more than surpassed each and every single one of them, leaving me kind of worried for the third book because my expectations are waaaaay up there now, thanks to its two predecessors. I honestly thought I couldn't love Natalie Nixon and Miles Haas as much as I did Skylar Nixon and Sebastian Pryce, but I did. Their love story was rom-com gold. No, I take it back. This was rom-gold platinum! It was funny, with the kind of banter that you would find between two friends who are more than comfortable with each other. But it most certainly had quite a few hot scenes when these two would jump from friends to lovers.

This was a friends to lovers romance that felt like it was a long time coming, especially with that almost moment from ten years ago. Natalie has only ever had one boyfriend and it was almost expected that he was the one she would end up with. They had history, but they were also at that stage where one or both parties could possibly take the other for granted or could need a change of pace. Commitment has always been a priority for Natalie when it comes to relationships, a concept foreign to someone like Miles, who has never seen himself as the type to settle down with just one woman. This is what makes them an unlikely couple, but it's also what makes the journey to getting them together far more interesting and very much entertaining. The friendship remains, but there's no denying that it's been irrevocably altered.

With only the first two books in the Happy Crazy Love series having been released, you would think it would be too early for me to add this series to my list of all-time favorites, but yeah, I'm going to go ahead and do it. It would take something totally catastrophic for me to hate the unreleased third novel, and don't be surprised when you find the series as is on my year-end list of top favorites. While waiting for Some Sort of Love to be released, I'm going to make time to read Melanie Harlow's other books, with the Frenched series having been highly recommended by fellow book lovers and with the characters from there being featured in Happy Crazy Love, my curiosity has been piqued. If I could give Some Sort of Crazy more than my maximum rating of five-plus stars, I would because it easily deserves at least double. ♥
