Review: New Beginnings by KC Richardson

Note: This ARC was provided by Bold Strokes Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Jordan Roberts has spent the last seven years with one hook-up after another, refusing to enter into a committed relationship, having learned her lesson when she caught her girlfriend with a man. She's had a share of beautiful women before, but one glimpse at the gorgeous woman in the coffee shop and she's stunned into silence. There's a connection there, one that becomes even more intense when she sees Kirsten Murphy again and they become friends. As strong as the connection is, Kirsten is a straight, married woman and Jordan doesn't do relationships...but could it be the start of something unexpected?

New Beginnings is a standalone F/F romance from author KC Richardson and is one I would classify as a slow burn love story between Jordan Roberts, single and a physical therapist, and Kirsten Murphy, married and vice president for human resources in a private company. I liked the intense connection the two had and I enjoyed reading as their friendship developed over time. Kirsten may be straight but she's already had feelings for another woman in the past, while Jordan had a girlfriend who cheated on her with a man. You can kind of tell that these things are going to come into play in the story to add to the tension.

The overall story was good, but there were certain times that I felt the internal monologue going on was overdone, making it all feel tedious after a while. The two obviously had their struggles, wondering if they should even consider admitting their attraction to one another, so I don't think every single internal monologue was necessary. I did like Jordan and Kirsten, as well as their best friends Alex Taylor and Brenda Lewis, and appreciated that Kirsten's husband, John Hennessy, wasn't made out to be a villain. The ending was sweet and one that the main characters quite deserved. New Beginnings gets four stars. ♥
