"Sydney...say it." He breathes, looking into my eyes with something... Desperation?

"Don't you feel it?" He kisses me, letting his tongue dip into my mouth with the same rhythm as his pelvis.

Closing my eyes, I try to control the building sensation that's on the verge of exploding. His pace picks up and his breathing is erratic.

"Say it...please, baby, say it."

Say what?

It's the summer of 2010 and twenty-three-year-old Sydney Montgomery is taking time off before pursuing her dream of becoming a museum curator to house-sit. She's going to spend a month house-sitting her aunt and uncle's home as well as dog-sitting their rambunctious Weimaraner named Swarley. She soon finds herself drawing the attention of Swarley's shy but hot vet, Dr. Dane Abbott, and the assumed pool guy (but actually a former college football star awaiting his medical residency), Lautner Sullivan. While Dane is sweet and makes her smile, Lautner is the kind of guy who keeps things interesting between the sheets and out of them as well. But Sydney knows her time in Palo Alto is short and goodbye is inevitable.

Ah, Jewel E. Ann, you have charmed the heck out of me yet again with a story that had me shedding tears several times, both due to hilarity and heartrending moments, and characters who are difficult to turn away from. Undeniably You is a standalone romance and it had me hooked from the beginning and reeled me in until the end. Sydney Ann Montgomery is a young woman who has had a lifelong dream and she refuses to let anything or anyone get in her way. There's nothing wrong with wanting to become a museum curator. But when she meets Dr. Lautner Sullivan, he stirs within her thoughts and emotions that are foreign and sometimes unwelcome. She needs to stay the course, but fate, something she wholeheartedly does not believe in, has other plans for Sydney and the book follows her life over the course of four years.

I admit that there was a time or two that I wanted to knock some sense into Sydney. She was at times clueless and other times too set on her plans, failing to realize what others already did--that she was in love with Lautner, that her dreams were not her own, and that plans can always be changed. She had the perfect package in Lautner--gorgeous, funny, intelligent, and adventurous--and an almost equally ideal one in Dane--easygoing, simple, caring, and devoted. The world seriously isn't fair when it hands the disaster-prone Sydney two great guys who have eyes only for her. But Sydney getting her happily-ever-after in the span of a month in Palo Alto would make this just another run-of-the-mill romance, and if it's one thing that Jewel E. Ann's books are NOT, it's run-of-the-mill, so she has quite a journey getting there.

Sydney and Lautner were the stars of this story, but I would be remiss in not mentioning the standout supporting characters: Dane, Avery (Sydney's younger sister), and the scene-stealing Swarley. Then there's Ocean and Emma, whose roles I won't get into in case you're a latecomer to the party (like silly me) so that the story isn't spoiled for you. After all, the author always seems to come up with a cast of characters that will accept nothing less than your full attention and adoration, as was the case here. With a story that tickles your funny bone while tugging at your heartstrings, Undeniably You is undeniably a standout from the pack and is, dare I say, another complete package. If you haven't read it yet, I'm seriously recommending you do. That's three out of three so far, Jewel E. Ann. This gets five-plus stars. ♥
