Review: Sleeping with the Entity by Cat Devon (Entity #1)

Daniella Delaney knows how irresistibly delicious her cupcake concoctions are and opening her new cupcake store in the place where she grew up is something she's been planning for so long. Unfortunately, the head of the business owners group doesn't seem too enthusiastic about her presence and if it's one thing that's clear, it's that Nick St. George would rather have Daniella take her business elsewhere. But compelling her to leave isn't working and now Nick wants to know why his vampire powers don't seem to work with the cupcake maker who's making him crave more than the baked goodness that she serves up.

Sleeping with the Entity is the first novel in the Entity series from author Cat Devon and is set in Vamptown, a district in Chicago that is home to a number of vampires who keep their identity secret from humans nearby. Daniella Delaney's appearance in the area could call attention to Vamptown and that's simply something Nick St. George cannot allow. With his mind control not working on her, Nick is curious as to what makes Daniella immune. Soon enough, their mutual attraction is all the two can think about, but a secret that is revealed to Daniella may hold not just answers but create even further complications.

This was a fast-paced and fun-filled paranormal romance that had a different twist to it. Trying to figure out why Daniella wasn't affected by any of the vampires' ability to compel was the biggest part of the mystery going on in the story. I liked the bickering and banter between Daniella and Nick and the guy certainly proved that he wasn't as much of a jerk as he came off as in the beginning of the story. There's a lot of humor that's mixed in with the romance and mystery, making this a good read and interesting start to the series. Sleeping with the Entity gives readers a unique paranormal romance flavor. Four stars! ♥
