Review: "Where There's a Will" by Katherine Garbera & Eve Gaddy (Whiskey River #1)

Note: This ARC was provided by Tule Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Ryder Ford, a partner at the Ford, Gamble, and Lannigan law office, and Addison Wells, a law student and his legal secretary, shared a kiss under some mistletoe during last year’s office Christmas party, though afterward, neither discussed what happened that night. They’ve both got a lot on their plate with the reading of his uncle Boots Kelly’s last will and testament, which required them to bring to the table Boots’ four sons—his two sets of two sons each, neither of whom were even ever aware of the other’s existence.

When a tornado begins to barrel its way toward their area, Ryder and Addison are forced to seek shelter in the office’s supply closet. Stuck together in very close quarters and with no place to go, Addison and Ryder give in to the attraction that’s existed between them even before the kiss under the mistletoe happened. But will it be business as usual once the dust settles and they step out of the closet or will they realize that what they have is more than a one-time thing and try to figure out a way for them to actually be together?

Where There’s a Will is the prequel novella by authors Katherine Garbera and Eve Gaddy and sets the stage for the rest of the Whiskey River series, which I shall assume is about the sons of Boots Kelly, Trey and Wyatt Kelly and Nicholas and Xander Blue (but, of course, I could be wrong). This was very short but sweet novella and this was a love story about two people who were already developing feelings for one another early on but never acted upon them until the Christmas party and again while the tornado hit.

Addison was a strong female lead character, one who had a difficult childhood and wanted to secure a much better future for herself as a lawyer. Ryder was a male lead character who believed in being open and honest and who definitely went after what he wanted once he set his mind to it. Their story was fun to read and showed that even the best laid plans can be changed when the right motivation comes along. Where There’s a Will has made me curious about the series and I look forward to reading it. Four stars! ♥
