On what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, hairstylist Lindsey Ballard finds out that the man she's about to marry, the man she believed was her best friend, has been keeping a devastating secret from her and everyone else. She does the only thing she can think of--she runs as far away from the church as possible. Offering his help is the man who's been trying to dig up dirt on Lindsey's late step-grandmother, a woman who's also considered a legend in country music, claiming that it's for a book he's writing.

He's one of the most successful record producers in the music industry, but Myles Emery is willing to stoop as low as to crash the wedding of the granddaughter of the woman he believes cheated his mother out of the credit and recognition she deserves. He expects to get a bit of push-back but what he doesn't expect is to catch her leaving the church and his own attraction to her. He decides to help her escape and hopes to get answers when gains her trust while trying to keep what's growing between them at bay.

There Goes the Bride is the third release in the Runaway Brides series by Catherine Mann and Joanne Rock but, as was the case with the first two novellas, this can be read as a standalone. I liked the premise of two people who should be adversaries finding it difficult to remain as such because of their attraction to one another. Both Lindsey and Myles have to constantly remind themselves that they shouldn't trust the other person but all the time they spend together makes them want to take a risk.

The fact that Lindsey is estranged for her family adds an interesting touch to the overall story. The need to protect their step-grandmother's legacy could be a uniting factor, especially between her and her older sister Samantha. Also, the reason why Lindsey decides to call off her wedding was something I can't remembering encountering in other books involving runaway brides or canceled weddings so kudos to the authors for that original twist to the story, though I do think it could have been played up a bit more.

One of the things I appreciated most about this novella was that there wasn't any insta-love involved. Yes, Lindsey and Myles were attracted to one another early on but there were no declarations of undying love, considering that the story only spans several days. It ends on a hopeful note, one that allows you to formulate a happy future for the two lead characters. There Goes the Bride was a very quick read, allowing me to finish it in less than an hour, and one that will leave you with a smile on your face. Four stars! ♥
