Review: "Tempting the Player" by Kat Latham (London Legends #3)

Matt Ogden spends more time sitting on the sidelines than on the pitch and he wants to prove to everyone on the London Legends that he's worth more than a glorified seat-warmer. When starter fullback Alfie Hardwick is called away from the team due to a family emergency, Matt is called in by his coach to become the starter. Matt is more than ready to grab this opportunity and show what he's made of, but there's one thing that he needs to overcome if he has any chance of remaining on the team he loves: his fear of flying.

Libby Hart loves flying and getting to be a pilot and going to different places has been a dream of hers since she was a child. When her best friend Matt asks her to help him get over his fear of flying, Libby readily agrees but soon realizes that she'll be in very close quarters with the man she's had a thing for ever since they met five years ago. It becomes clear that the attraction is very much mutual, but are they willing to risk their friendship and the possibility of heartbreak and how much are they prepared to compromise?

Tempting the Player is the third book in the London Legends series by Kat Latham and my favorite among the available books. I love friends to lovers stories but what made this particular story extra special was the creative twist the author came up with to get best friends rugby player Matt Ogden and airline pilot Libby Hart to come together. There's humor and a bit of drama and enough steam to keep anyone looking for a sports romance to curl up with this weekend more than satisfied because I sure as heck was.

What wasn't there to like about Matt and Libby? Goodness, these two had me grinning from ear to ear with their snarky sweetness and if there was one couple that was simply meant to be together, it was these two. They already had the perfect foundation for their relationship--they were best friends who cared, trusted, and respected each other. The fact that Matt thought of Libby to help him with his very real fear showed how much he believed in what they had and that she would be there for him when he needed her.

I loved Matt and Libby's love story, but I am curious about Alfie "Hardy" Hardwick and what his story will be after what happened to him here. I know he's a recurring supporting character in the series but I certainly wouldn't mind if he had his own happily ever after sometime in the future *coughSOONcough*. As a matter of fact, consider this the beginning of my campaign to get Hardy's story told! ^.^ Overall, Tempting the Player surpassed my hopes for it and is recommendation-worthy. I'm giving it five stars! ♥
