Review: "Since Drew" by J. Nathan

Note: This ARC was provided by Patchwork Press Cooperative via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Andi Parker and Drew Slater have several things in common: they're both athletes working toward a particular life-changing goal, they're both twenty-two, they're both graduating seniors in college. Another thing they share is the fact that they're both confined in the same hospital--she with injuries due to an accident and he for reasons he hasn't divulged. Drew becomes a fixture in Andi's hospital room, keeping her mind off the fact that her dreams of making it to the Olympics are all but gone.

In the short amount of time they're together, they're drawn by a sense of camaraderie and kept inexplicably tethered to each other. Everything they've shared, all those moments and memories meant something to both of them...at least, that's what they both believed until the harsh light of truth woke them up to their painful reality. Andi and Drew have something special, but they'll both need to decide if having that love and happiness will be worth all the pain, physical and otherwise.

Since Drew by bestselling author J. Nathan is a new adult standalone release about two people who share a connection that defies explanation but it's a connection that they need to fight for if they want to be together. There are a couple of twists in the story, both of which I was able to guess, but even knowing I was right didn't take away from the thrill of reading how the characters were going to react to what was happening. The enjoyment I felt never wavered or diminished while I was reading.

I loved the originality and creativity employed in this book. The story and characters may appear to be one thing in your head, and then they go and change things up when you least expect it. Even when you know it's coming, you're still swept away when the exact moment happens. With this being the author's second publication, it looks as if her momentum has remained steady, continuing to impress with unique stories and characters you simply can't help but fall in love with. Since Drew gets five stars! ♥
