Review: "Matter of Time" by Alannah Lynne (Heat Wave #5)

Note: This ARC was provided by Rock Star Lit PR in exchange for an honest review.

Lizbeth Sanders and Logan Steele were very much in love and engaged to be married fifteen years ago, but Logan's discovery that his ex-girlfriend had a child--his child--and was raising the little girl on her own forced Logan to do the one thing he felt he had to: break up with Lizbeth and marry the mother of his daughter. Since then, Lizbeth's heart has never healed, left badly broken by the only man she's ever loved.

The knowledge that his life has gone on, having even more children with his wife, convinced Lizbeth that what they once had was best left in the past. Then she bumps into Lucas Steele, Logan's twin brother, at a friend's home over the holidays and the fact that Lizbeth has never married makes Lucas realize that maybe, just maybe, now is the time for second chances for his dear friend Lizbeth and his brother Logan.

Logan has loved no one the way he loved and continues to love Lizbeth. He did what he believed was the right thing all those years ago. When he broke Lizbeth's heart, his broke as well. When Lucas reunites the former lovers, Logan can see how badly his abandonment scarred Lizbeth. But with his marriage over, Logan is as determined as ever to show Lizbeth that it was merely a matter of time before she's his again.

Matter of Time is the fifth full-length, sixth overall, and latest release in the Alannah Lynne-penned Heat Wave series. Fans of the series will remember Lizbeth Sanders as Kevin Mazze's on-again, off-again girlfriend in book three, Crossing Lines, and this story takes place a few months after the events in the Christmas novella A Christmas Heat Wave. However, this can be read separately from that short story.

This is a second chance romance between two people who find their way back to one another with a little help from the hero's twin brother. There are obvious complications--Logan's soon-to-be ex-wife and his three children--and then there's the trust that he needs to earn once again from Lizbeth. The love is very much still there, though I don't think I would have forgiven him as quickly as Lizbeth did, but that's me.

Lizbeth Sanders is a strong lead female character and her ability to forgive and take back the man who broke her heart certainly should not be seen as weakness. She's steadfast and picked herself up after the break-up and went on to become a successful businesswoman. With an opportunity to find the happiness and peace she's always sought finally within her sights, I understand why took a chance again with Logan.

I'm not sure if there's going to be another novel to be added to this series that I now can't get enough of but if there will be one, I'd be more than happy to read it. There will be a spin-off series entitled Pandora's Playground, and yes, I'm looking forward to reading the books, especially because I'd love to read Lucas Steele's story. The road to love is never easy but Matter of Time shows it's worth the trip. 4.5 stars! ♥
