Review: "In Your Corner" by Sarah Castille (Redemption #2)

It's been two years since things ended between Jake "Renegade" Donovan and Amanda Westwood and neither of them have had any other significant relationships since then. Amanda wasn't ready to fully commit to Jake but it was her betrayal that ultimately forced Jake to keep his distance from her. A lot of changes have happened since their break-up but when Amanda is put in harm's way after a meeting with Jake, he steps in to make sure that she's okay, leading to both more time together and mixed signals.

After losing her job at the prestigious law firm she worked at for years, Amanda finds herself at a crossroads both personally and professionally. Starting her own practice would be challenging but with Jake's support and that of her friends, she may be ready to take a chance. As far as her relationship with Jake is concerned, she wants nothing more than a second chance but she's not sure if it's what he ultimately wants nor is she absolutely prepared to give him what he's always asked her for--her heart.

In Your Corner is the second book in the Redemption series by bestselling author Sarah Castille. Fans of the series will remember Amanda and Jake from the first book and how their relationship was in the beginning until it ended after Jake caught Amanda with someone else. Book two can be read as a standalone, though I do suggest that those new to the series read the the books in order so that you guys can have the nuggets of information that'll help with the various histories of the recurring characters.

Though I wasn't thrilled with how Amanda hurt Jake in the first book, I've been itching to know what else was in store for the two of them and I'm glad that I got exactly what I wanted here. Trust is a difficult thing to earn, especially when it was lost in the same manner as Jake and Amanda's situation, but that's what I love about second chance romances--watching the lead characters work their way, not just back, but forward in order to see if what they have is truly worth the risk of getting their hearts broken yet again.

Aside from Jake and Amanda, and the appearance of Makayla Delaney and Max Huntington, the addition of new supporting characters definitely piqued my interest, which is always a good thing because then I'll be itching to read every single book that comes out in the series! ^.^ In Your Corner was a great follow-up and I enjoyed both Jake and Amanda's love story and the legal battle that Amanda was waging against her former employer. If you're a fan of MMA romances with a lot of steam, check this one out! 4.5 stars! ♥
