Review: "Dare to Submit" by Carly Phillips (Dare to Love #4)

Decklan Dare puts a premium on needing to be in control, having experienced devastating loss when he was younger. When he notices Amanda Collins in the BDSM club he's a member of, he can't seem to look away but he doesn't approach her until a dominant becomes too insistent on what he wants even after Amanda gives her safe word. Neither one of them is looking for more than one night together but that's all it takes for both to realize that one night will never be enough. He's willing to take his chances with her.

Amanda Collins has never felt she was enough for anyone else, no thanks to the belittling she suffered at the hands of her own mother. When she notices Decklan Dare at the BDSM club she goes to once a month, she keeps hoping he'll make a move, and when he finally does, what was supposed to be nothing more than a one-nighter develops into something they weren't expecting. They're beginning to trust one another but she's keeping a secret that, when revealed, may destroy what has barely started between the two of them.

Dare to Submit is the fourth book in the bestselling Carly Phillips series entitled Dare to Love and is about another Dare cousin, Decklan, Gabe's younger brother. Decklan's story was a surprise in some ways because I sure as heck wasn't expecting him to be a paying member of an exclusive BDSM club, though it's obvious that the Dare men appear to have a thing for dominance, especially inside the bedroom. The reason for his need for control was heartbreaking but in Amanda he found something he needs more: her.

So far, I've enjoyed the books in the series, though I keep wondering if there's at least one Dare sibling or cousin or their love interest who doesn't have any major issues. But you know that irresistible lure of people who need fixing and they, in turn, fix you? That's how it is with the stories involving this very complex family. This was a good story of two people with pasts that have left them searching for something that they're only able to find with one another. Dare to Submit gets four out of five stars. ♥
