Review: "Insatiable" by Cari Quinn

Note: This ebook was provided Fido Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Shawn Griffin has been in love with his best friend ever since they were teenagers. He and Rachel Cooper have been together from the time they were babies and if their families had it their way, they would be married and popping out babies right about now. Unfortunately, Rachel has never seen him as anything more than her best friend and the proof is in her openness when it comes to sharing her private life with him. Shawn's always stood to the side but has never failed to be her friend, even when he's wanted more.

Rachel Cooper has had a few constants in her life and one of the most important is her best friend. Shawn's been there for her, especially when she's needed him the most, but he's also there even when she thinks she can handle things on her own. So, when Rachel is invited by an ex to see him in New York, and Shawn decides to play chaperon, she balks. Once in New York, things escalate and while Shawn is ready to take their friendship to the next level, Rachel is wary, afraid if things end badly, she'll lose him forever.

Insatiable is a best friends to lovers contemporary romance by bestselling author Cari Quinn and has two people who have known each other their whole lives deciding if they should or shouldn't transition their relationship into a more romantic and intimate one. I fully appreciated the hesitance that Rachel had, especially since there are no guarantees when it comes to falling in love and the possibility of losing her best friend should a potential romance end was more than enough to have her always pushing him away.

I liked the back and forth between Rachel and Shawn, but I will admit that there were times that their choices became a bit frustrating, especially because it was obvious they were making the wrong ones. There was the expected pressure from both their families, especially since their respective parents were close even prior to the births of their children. I didn't anticipate the twist in the story but I did appreciate how it played out, making it both heartbreakingly touching. I'm giving Insatiable four stars out of five. ♥
