"Got a thing for ghosts?"

Sunshine Griffith has just turned sixteen and while moving to a new state and a new school should be more than enough changes in her young life for now, things are about to become...creeptastic. Maybe it's the dreary weather in the state of Washington or maybe it's the stench of something that's never completely dried out inside their new house that's giving Sunshine the creeps. Ever since she and her mom Katherine arrived, she can't seem to shake the literal chill that has her wishing for the heat back home in Texas.

When her stuff in her bedroom is moved around and she begins to hear footsteps and a child's laughter on the second floor, Sunshine's convinced their house is haunted. But her mom doesn't believe in ghosts and neither does her best friend back in Texas. The one person who will listen to her is her new friend Nolan Foster. As they dig deeper into the strange things happening to and around Sunshine, their bond grows stronger, realizing that their belief in the supernatural isn't the only thing that they have in common.

As the weeks pass, Sunshine has noticed changes in her mother and their relationship, once extremely close, is now fraught with tension and anxiety. She's also trying to learn the identity of the ghostly little girl she plays with while evading her strange visual arts teacher in school. When things with her mother get worse, Sunshine knows she needs to get answers to whatever's going on inside their house before it's too late. In the process, she may end up learning more about herself than she could have ever anticipated.

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK! Yes, indeed, I did. I've always been a fan of books, movies, and TV shows that have that creepy factor in them. They can range from mildly suspenseful to full-on horror scream fests, and if I have difficulty sleeping at the end of the night then I have no one else to blame...than the creators themselves. Hehe. Co-authors Paige McKenzie and Alyssa B. Sheinmel have put together a book that had me focused on nothing else from start to finish except to learn all about The Haunting of Sunshine Girl.

The book is based on a popular YouTube channel but one that I've never watched before, especially since I don't really go on YouTube unless someone's posted a link on Facebook or Twitter to a video on the site of something really funny or touching. But, not to worry, because you don't need to check out the YouTube channel in order to enjoy this wonderfully creepy book. It felt original and creative and I loved that our heroine wasn't entirely fearless because it gave her a more believable and adorkable quality to her.

This is the first book in a series, with book two slated for release in April of 2016. Yes, I know. That's a REALLY long wait, but this initial installment doesn't end in too much of a cliffhanger in that there is a resolution but you pretty much know that there are more questions that need to be answered. I, for one, am already on board and would love to see what other supernatural adventures await Sunshine Griffith and Nolan Foster. I highly recommend The Haunting of Sunshine Girl and give it five-plus stars! ♥
