Review: "Bulletproof Weeks" by Taryn Elliott (When You're Gone #2)

Logan King had his reasons for making the choices that he did. It may have cost him his one chance at finally being with the one person he truly loves but he wasn't going to risk her safety. His Izzy may hate him but he's taken precautionary measures to ensure that no harm will come her way. She's watched over and protected and while she wasn't initially aware of the people shadowing her every move, when she discovers she's got security with her, she's adamant about wanting to know the identity of her benefactor.

Isabella Grace is trying to move on with her life. Broken heart or not, she knows she's got a business to run. Learning that she's got bodyguards has her wondering why but when she figures out that it's Logan who's been paying for it, she confronts him and demands an explanation. Logan finally comes clean and explains everything about Aimee Collen, his past relationship with her and how she's been stalking him ever since he broke things off with her. Aimee's threat against Izzy pushed Logan to do what he had to.

Now that Izzy knows the truth, she refuses to leave Logan's side. She may not have been given a say in the matter before but she makes it clear to Logan that she's not going anywhere. As they make a go of their relationship and profess their love for one another, neither of them forget that one woman is still out there, biding her time until she's ready to make presence felt and lay claim on the man she thinks belongs to no one else but her. And when she does, it may cost both Izzy and Logan more than they can afford.

Bulletproof Weeks is the second book in the When You're Gone series by Taryn Elliott and picks up about six months after the events in the first book. Amid the much more solidified relationship between the main characters, Izzy and Logan, was the stalking. The creepy acts of stalking would occur just as your lulled into complacency, though "creepy" is really quite mild for the stuff that was happening. The ending was heartbreaking, but I am holding on to a teeny, tiny bit of hope that everyone involved will be okay.

Things were definitely amped things up and this was such an enjoyable read. What seemed like a quick progression from lust to love in book one has evolved into something with a sense of permanence in book two. Yes, just like with Anything But MineBulletproof Weeks ends with a cliffhanger but since both books already have me hooked, I'm not going to whine (too much) about having to wait for book three's release next month. Make sure to read the books in order, bookaholics! This installment gets 4.5 stars from me. ♥

Date read: 16 February 2015
