Review: "Taming the Storm" by Samantha Towle

Taming the Storm is the third and final book in The Storm series by Samantha Towle and begins with events found in the last few chapters of the second book, Wethering the Storm, and continues its own story thereafter. So, there are some shared moments between both books but it's interesting to get the different perspectives.

Tom Carter is as known for being a womanizer as he is for being a rock star and bassist of The Mighty Storm and makes no apologies for any of it. The only female to have ever turned him down (not just once but twice) is Lyla Summers, lead singer of up and coming band Vintage. When Tom temporarily takes over as Vintage's manager during their very first tour, he and Lyla are forced to be together in close quarters.

Lyla has sworn off men after a devastating betrayal and refuses to have anything to do with anyone she considers a "mut" (man slut). Tom just happens to be the poster child for muts all over. Hahaha! On the other hand, Tom made a vow to not engage in meaningless sex if God answered his one request. So, it shouldn't be difficult for Tom and Lyla to avoid any entanglements, romantic or otherwise, right?  *insert mischievous smile*

When these two are together, you can almost imagine fireworks going off (yes, this is somewhat of a pun on Tom's nickname of "Firecracker" for Lyla...I have failed miserably). The back and forth is entertaining and the more intimate moments are H-O-T. Aside from the chemistry between the two, they both have back stories that have you feeling for them and Tom's, in particular, makes you understand why he's as screwed up as he is. Still, you can't help but fall for both Tom and Lyla nor can you stop yourself from wanting a happily-ever-after for them. ♥

Taming the Storm is my favorite The Storm novel and I personally felt it could be read as a stand-alone. However, if you enjoy your fair share of romance novels that involve a rock star, you may just want to grab all three of the books in the series (The Mighty Storm, Wethering the Storm, and Taming the Storm). I gave the first two books 4-star and 3.5-star ratings, respectively, on Goodreads and I'll hopefully re-post those reviews here soon. ^.^

I'm giving this rock romance a 4.5-star rating and happily include it in my list of favorite reads for 2014. ♥

Date read: 08 July 2014
